Every administrator/user account will be able to set up a 2-step verification process. After setting up 2-step verification upon login, users will be prompted to enter a code that will be visible on a verification application of their choice. For more on how to configure 2-step verification and manage login details, please refer to the documentation below.
To set up the 2-step verification successfully, please follow these steps:
1. Install a 2-step verification application on the smartphone/tablet.
NOTE: Any 2-step verification application can be utilized.
2. Open the 2-step verification application and add the account by scanning the QR code provided in the pop-up window. If being unable to use a QR Code scanner, users can manually enter the key, which is also shown on the pop-up window.
3. To verify everything, enter the 6-digit code that the application generates.
After the completion, click 'Save' and a pop-up window should appear saying that the 2-step verification has been set up successfully. Additionally, clicking on the 'Reset' button will reset the 2-step verification.
NOTE: There is no need to click 'Save' after reset.
When the 2-step verification process is completed on Administrators and Users page, users will see the date when it was set up and a button that will allow resetting the 2-Step Verification for that administrator/user.
If an account has the 2-step verification set up, the login process will look like the following:
1. Enter the account's username and password
2. Enter the code generated by the mobile application
2.1. Open the verification application on the mobile phone
2.2. Find the account and enter the code as presented in the application
3. Click 'Verify'
Once the correct code is provided, users will be logged in into their PBXware account.
NOTE: Please note that the 'Max. Number of attempts' and 'Retry time period' options from the Site Accounts > Settings page also apply on the code input, meaning that if a user fails to enter the correct code several times, the account will be temporarily disabled.
NOTE: The 2-step verification process uses the TOTP (Time based one-time) algorithm, which uses the current time to generate the code. This means that the server time and the time on the user's mobile phone must be in sync. Any difference larger than 60 seconds will result in an incorrectly generated code and the user will not be able to log in. Time Zone differences are not included so as long as the UTC times for the server and mobile phone are in sync, so everything will work as intended.
